Jerry Heying
EPI Protection Driving Division
Executive Director / Instructor

Jerry Heying has more than 40 years of private security, investigations, personal protection, and protection driving experience while working in over 50 countries. Beginning in the late 70's, Mr. Heying was a team member of a large high threat personal protection team for an ultra-high net worth (UHNW) private family, and has attended numerous protection and driving courses. Mr. Heying has attained driving and protection Instructor status from multiple schools, and holds numerous professional and state issued certifications.

In 1989, Mr. Heying founded the International Protection Group, LLC (IPG), and the International Protective Service Agency (IPSA); licensed security and investigation companies in several states that specialize in special event security, investigations, secured transportation, and personal protection. Since 2009, IPG has owned and operated the Executive Protection Institute (EPI), the oldest executive protection training school operating in the United States since being established in 1978. Mr. Heying has also been an Instructor for EPI since 1996.

Mr. Heying has extensive experience in operational planning and coordinating major events both domestically and internationally and has a full range of experience with protective details as a team member; shift and detail leader; performing advance preparations for private families, entertainers, business and religious leaders on a worldwide basis; and providing protective driving details.

Mr. Heying obtained his Certified Protection Professional (CPP) credential from ASIS International, and is very active with the organization holding numerous positions. He is a Personal Protection Specialist (PPS) and a Certified Security Training (CST) from the Academy of Security Educators and Trainers (ASET); a Certified Anti-Terrorist Specialist (CAS); a Certified Security Driving Instructor from several schools; a Master Instructor for EZ Drift Skid Recovery System; and is a NRA and multi State Certified Firearms Instructor. Mr. Heying is a graduate of the Executive Protection Institute and a member of the Nine Lives Associates. Mr. Heying serves as the Executive Director of the Executive Protection Institute (EPI), the President of the Academy of Security Educators and Trainers (ASET); and a Founding Board Member of the International Protective Security Board (IPSB).

Antonio Alfonso
EPI Protection Driving Division
Program Director / Instructor

Antonio is a retired member of the New York City Police Department with over 22 years of law enforcement experience. During that period he became an evasive/defensive driving instructor providing training for law enforcement, military and the private sector. He is also a Master Instructor for EZ Drift Skid Recovery System.

Mr. Alfonso is a tactical communications instructor, and as an avid martial artist, he recognizes that it is the one system that reduces the need for a physical response.

Trained as a Personal Protection Specialist (PPS), Mr. Alfonso has performed in and led numerous executive protection details for celebrities, dignitaries, corporate executives and ultra high net worth individuals and their families.

Antonio Alfonso is the owner of Arona Executive Services, LLC., a New York based security company focused on providing executive protection and facilitating safe travel for its clients. He is also an instructor for the Executive Protection Institute, where he is involved in program development. Mr. Alfonso is multilingual, providing training and consultation to various entities through Latin America, Bermuda and the Caribbean.

Antonio Alfonso is a recipient of the Dr. Richard W. Kobetz Achievement Award for Outstanding Professional Accomplishments, a graduate of the Executive Protection Institute, a member of the Nine Lives Associates and the Academy of Security Educators and Trainers.
Janine Paul
EPI Protection Driving Program
Lead Instructor

Janine started her professional career as an officer with the United States Secret Service Uniformed Division in Washington, D.C. During her tenure with the Secret Service, she served on numerous details for the President and Vice President, as well as other foreign dignitaries. She served as Missions Liaison Officer, part of the Deputy Chief’s staff, to handle all security issues, including conflict resolution to approximately 500 foreign embassies. She was also a part of the Trek Patrol Team and was hand-picked to be one of the officers on the distinguished U.S. Secret Service Honor Guard. Her last few years with the Uniformed Division were spent at the James J. Rowley Training Center as Officer/Technician training all recruits and active personnel in protective driving.

While with the Secret Service she had the opportunity to attend various protective driving schools and take their advanced courses. She was later heavily recruited by one of these schools and became their Lead Instructor for the next five years. She is a security, protective and evasive driving certified instructor with a vast experience developing and delivering advanced training to Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement as well as Executive Protection Specialists, Corporate Security teams and various branches of the US Military.

Most recently Janine became an Instructor for the Executive Protection Institute, where again her training focuses on personal safety through developing protective driving techniques and courses. She is excited to bring her energy and enthusiasm on to the track and in delivering informative programs to a wide variety of professionals.

Janine is a Personal Protection Specialist (PPS), a graduate of the Executive Protection Institute, a member of the Nine Lives Associates and the Academy of Security Educators and Trainers.

Thomas Bradshaw
EPI Protection Driving Program

Captain Thomas Bradshaw currently serves as the Director of the Information and communication Technologies Division of the Virginia State Police. He is an accomplished and seasoned law enforcement leader commanding complex and highly profile missions. He is a Virginia State Certified Personal Protection Specialist (PPS) and Instructor. He is also a member of the American Board for Certification in Dignitary and Executive Protection and Board Certified as a Protective Operations Manager (CPOM). Captain Bradshaw was the former Assistant Unit Commander and the Executive Officer of the Executive Protective Unit for the Office of the Governor for 13 years. He was the former Intelligence Officer for Threat Assessments and the Medical Officer for the Protective Detail.

Captain Bradshaw's background includes 16 years of Emergency Medical Services and is currently a National Registered Emergency Medical Technician - Tactical. He is a graduate of the United States Secret Service Protective Operations and U.S. Department of State Diplomatic Security Service Academies. He served for 7 years as a Master Operator with the Virginia State Police Counter-terrorism SWAT/Tactical Team. He has vast experience with high profile events such as Governor's and Presidential conventions and inaugurations. He also has advanced, provided protective operations on trade missions worldwide, working closely with the U.S. Embassy and foreign authorities.

He has been a Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services State Certified Driving and Emergency Vehicle Operator Course Instructor for over 3 decades; teaching thousands of participants the basic fundamentals of driving and handling a vehicle in emergency situations. He is a U.S. Department of Homeland Security Certified Instructor in Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings, Understanding & Planning for School Bomb Incidents, Federal Air Marshall service Certified Instructor in Law Enforcement Officers Flying Armed Certification Course and the Department of Justice Certified Instructor in Terrorism for Law Enforcement Officer. He has developed and provided training/consultation on behalf of the Virginia State Police internationally and to various local, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies on the topic of dignitary protection, political assassinations, special event planning, threat assessments and intelligence gathering. He also possesses a National Certified Crime Prevention Specialist II Certification from the National Crime Prevention Association. He is an Accredited Associated Faculty Member for the University of Phoenix College of Criminal Justice and Security Richmond - Virginia Beach Campus.

Captain Bradshaw holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Governmental Administration from Christopher Newport University, Masters degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Troy State University and is a Professional Member of the National Criminal Justice Honor Society - Alpha Phi Sigma. He received a Postgraduate Diploma in Executive Management and Leadership from the University of Virginia - National Criminal Justice Command College. Captain Bradshaw is a recipient of the Dr. Richard W. Kobetz Achievement Award for Outstanding Professional Accomplishments. He is a graduate of the Executive Protection Institute as well as a member of the Nine Lives Associates and the Academy of Security Educators and Trainers.
